Networking two computers

I am attempting to connect two computers through a
Ethernet Broadband Router. I have gone though the
workgrouos process but the stil fail to see one another. i
get this message when looking for a computer near me is
this.

Workgroup is not accessible.
List of servers for this workgroup is not accessible.

Any ideas.
