NOISY MODEM

HAVING INSTALLED A NEW DRIVER FOR MY MODEM(CONEXANT
56K),MY MODEM NOW MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE WHILST CONNECTED
TO THE NET ANY SUGGESTIONS? IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!

Can't have your nuts being driven, can we?
Add an M0 (that's a zero) to your modem initialization string. That will turn
off your modem's sound. If you want modem sound thru the handshaking process
use M1. hth

you need to go to modem set up in control panel and side the sider to
the speaker off setting.
If that doesn't work you can add a string to turn off the speaker under
advance setting for the modem.

The parameters set in the control panel modem setup are essentiall defaults
which are use if an application does not set its own.

CHange the modem setup in the properties for your modem setup under
DUN...and DUN will use those and over ride the others.
