Default Outgoing Mail Server Account Settings??

Hi folks,
Here is an interesting problem I'm trying to resolve....
In setting my I-mate w/PocketPC 2003 for retrieving email
messages, I have the following configuration:

Incoming Mail Server: pop.compuserve.com
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com

In the setup screens, it allows me to setup the
account/password for the Incoming server and I can check
a box that my outgoing mail sever requires
authentication. However, where do you put the
account/password information for the Outgoing server,
when this information differs from the Incoming server?

On my other handheld (Treo 600), this type of
configuration is fully supported.

Thanks,

Randy

There is support for authentication only in the cases where Outgoing Server
has the same User/Password set as the incoming server. Otherwise, you will
need to purchase another mail client that supports different User/PWD pairs.

Ouch....that's a major boo-boo on the product that should
be fixed quickly.... Especially since Outlook and
Outlook Express all support that too. Even the Treo 600
supports that.

I hope this is resolved with PocketPC 2003 SE. What are
the alternative POP programs for PocketPC 2003?

Nothing to say.... I fully agree. I guess there will be a fix at some point,
but can't say when for this moment.

Hi Arne,
I tried that one last night. It appears to be well
done, however I did have a problem with it. On the SMTP
server setup, I specfied I need authentication. When I
clicked on the Set button to enter the account/password
info, nothing happens.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with PocektPC 2003
Phone edition or something else.

Thanks!

Randy

There will be an update with a fix for this problem on both Smartphone and
PPC. You will see the fix in Smartphone 2003 SE and then in an update to
Pocket PC 2003 SE.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the advance information! I look forward to
the SE version. Let me know if you need any testers.
