Hi
I'm running a pretty slow set up but outlook express 5 is slow to load and
when you go to newsreader it is also slow as is listing the newsgroups.
I was thingking of trying to use internet mail and news with '98 but it
can't find an inf file it's looking for and I'm not sure I want to revert
anyway.
Now I don't claim to know anything about pc's but I can't see why getting a
list of groups up should take so long. Is it compressing it every time or
something and is there anything I can do to speed it up?

When you start Outlook Express 5, or the Windows Address Book (wab.exe), it
may start very slowly.
The Pstores.exe file and associated .dll files may be corrupted, or their
versions may be incorrect, and the ProtectedStorage registry key has
incorrect parameters.

Downloading a newsgroup list the first time from a new ISP can be a lengthy process but you only need to do it once!
