Can anyone help me?
Somehow, premium rate internet sites have been accessed
using my telephone line connection, but it was not me. No-
one has access to my pc but me, and at the times some of
the connections were made, I wasn't even at home! My pc
is switched off when I'm not using it, and I have had to
pay an enormous line rental bill to avoid being cut off.
I noticed that when I switched on my pc one time, there
were two new icons on my desktop that were definitely
connected to the premium rate sites - but I don't know how
they got there.
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to the internet, and
don't really understand how this has happened, but it has
really frightened me.
If someone could offer me some sort of explanation, or, if
anyone else has suffered from this, I would be really
grateful to hear about it.
The Computer Fraud Squad from my local Police Force is
supposedly looking into it but it is taking so long I
thought I would see if anyone out there knows anything
about this.
