We have two NT servers 4.0, running service pack 6: Primary Domain
Controller and Backup Domain Controller. We want to decommission the
Primary Domain Controller. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
The only thing that we can think of is to promote the Backup Domain
Controller to the Primary Domain Controller before taking the Primary Domain
Controller off-line. Is there anything else that we need to do besides
promoting the BDC to PDC?

Assuming that being the PDC is *all* it doesn, then no.

However, you might want to check whether this server has any other
responsibilities - e.g., WINS, DNS, DHCP, any file shares, etc.

Other than that, it should be easy... (Note the emphases on "should" ;-)
