Printer driver getting corrupted on print server
I have concluded the problem is to do with permissions on the Windows
Directory
The problem exists in our setup as the HP drivers write to the users
temp folder when a job is sent to print, HOWEVER, our users have
roaming profiles which reside on a network. It appears the HP drivers
are programmed not to right to a network location, so instead they try
to write to C:\Windows or C:\Winnt. As our staff are only users on
the local machine, they do not have permissions to write to this
folder and so the job fails.
At present, the only fix I have found, is to use group policy to
modify the permissions on the C:\Winnt folder, so that users have the
same rights as Power Users.
It seems to have fixed the problem
HP have been notified, and hopefully they might correct the problem.
