Default Printer spewing nonsense

I was trying to print a pdf document to my HP Deskjet 610CL and the print was
interrupted. Now my printer seems to be in an endless loop of printing
nonsense characters. I have deleted all documents from the print queue and
have turned the printer off and on several times, as well as rebooting the
PC. How can I get this purged?

The meaningless garbage you see is most likely the codes required by the
printer to output PDF.
Sometimes all that is required is cycling power of the printer. A more
certain method would be to disconnect the printer from the power in addition
to turning it off.

Having failed this method, all I can suggest is to disconnect the printer,
remove all traces of the printer software, and reinstall the sofware.
