Default Problem with Installation of Mom 2005 sp1 reporting

Hello StefanHammar,

Thanks for the post. A couple of things do come to mind.

#1 simply indicates that MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT must be set to startup
type AUTOMATIC in Servers Manager. SQLSERVERAGENT is set to MANUAL by default.
#2 may indicate that either the WMI Windows Installer Provider and/or .NET
Framework 1.1 are not installed.

If not already present, you can install the WMI with Add/Remove Windows Component.
Look for the
"WMI Windows Installer Provider" component under "Management and Monitoring
Tools". Service should also be started.

Also, make sure the .NET Framework v1.1 is enabled in IIS Manager is enabled
under the 'Web Service Extentions' folder.

See minimum prerequisites for MOM 2005 reporting at the bottom of the page
at this URL for more info:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/mom/mom2005/Library/1ccf882b-9c7b-4c1b-ae09-5e62f3d16957.mspx

Hope this is helpful. Let us know if problems persist. Good luck

Default Problem with Installation of Mom 2005 sp1 reporting

Hello Pete

Thanks for your information :-)
But, I'm sorry to say that I still have problems ...

1. The SQL Server and SQL Server Agent services must be in automatic startup
mode, for clusters they can be manual startup. MOM Reporting
The SQL Server and/or SQL Server Agent services are not set to automatic
startup mode, for clusters they are not set to manual or automatic mode.
-> SQL-Server
The service
MSSQLServer: started and automatic
SQLServerAgent: started and automatic

2. SQL Instances
SQL Instances: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3 or later MOM Reporting
Required For: WSUS
Status of SQL Instance: The SQL Server and SQL Server Agent services
must be in automatic startup mode, for clusters they can be manual
startup.
-> Wsus ???, It's windows update service ???

More info:
Mom-Server
Windows 2003 sp1 std Eng
Wsus installed and running
Mom 2005 sp1
..NET framework v1.1 installed and is enabled in IIS Manager

SQL-Server
Windows 2003
SQL 2000 sp4 std ed
SQL reporting service sp2
WMI Windows Installer Provider installed
..NET framework v1.1 installed and is enabled in IIS Manager

Report manager: \\sql-server\SQLReports
Report server: \\sql-server\SQLReportServer

Reporting setup
No Automatic detection of virtual directories
and above paths.
-> Unable to contact the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services server via
Web Service.

I have verified the SQL server reporting and it looks fine ...

Thanks
Stefan

Hello StefanHammar,

Ignore the WSUS...errant keystrokes on my part. I am bringing a set of lab
machines to SQL SP4 and SRS SP2 to see if reporting services goes in clean.
I ****nally installed on SQL SP3 and SRS SP1. Will let you know if I find
anything of interest to your situation.

Hi Pete,

Do you have any update on this? It seems I have the same problem. I can't
proceed on the installation. I tried to restart the server and if you tried
to check the preq, it'll be seems OK, and after few more second, same failure
will be encountered. I assumed there're some services that causes this
predicamament....

Default Problem solved, Problem with Installation of Mom 2005 sp1 reporti

Hi

The problem i solved :-)

The problem were that I tried to install Mom reporting on the MOM server and
the mom database is on a differnt server!

I got the following tip from Microsoft:
=========================
Please note that the MOM reporting setup must be run on the computer where
the MOM Reporting Database will reside. As stated in the Deployment Guide:

The MOM Reporting setup must be run on the computer where the MOM Reporting
Database will be installed and not the computer running SQL Server Reporting
Services (if they are different computers).

Best regards
Stefan

Default Problem solved, Problem with Installation of Mom 2005 sp1 reporti

Hi,

I installed the Reporting successfully. But the other way around. I
installed MOM Reporting where the SQL Reporting Services is installed. First,
I installed SQL Reporting Services and Service Pack 2. (Issues Prereq checker
on "MS WWW services" has been solved in SRS SP2). Prereq checker error on
"incorrect version of SQL Reporting services" and "unspecified error" has
been solved in MOM2005 SP1. So prior on installing MOM Reporting, install MOM
Management Console first and apply MOM2005 SP1 (if you're not using MOM2005
with SP1 installer)...

I am having the same problem here. I had SQLserver2000 installed on the same
box with MOM 2005 sp1. I need to install SQLserver reporting services and
the Mom reporting server. So I decided I would just upgrade the SQL on the
box to 2005 and include the reporting services install with the upgrade. The
SQL2005 install went fine. Mom is still operating but when I try to install
the reporting server, It give me the same messages on prereq

1 The SQL Server and/or SQL Server Agent services are not set to
automatic startup mode
- They are in automatic setup mode!
2 Unable to contact the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
server via
WMI
- Security or config. problem of SQL Server Reporting Services
???

I checked all of Pete's suggestions as well but nothing has helped. I think
the install CD I have for MOM is just not able to recognize this much newer
version of SQL2005??

Any thoughts??

Bryce
