Default Roaming Profiles with Folder Redirection

Hi Stuart,
Did you take care of fixing this.....

"I have noticed in the event log when users logon that Userenv ID 1525:
Windows has detected that Offline Caching is enabled on the Roaming Profile
share - to avoid potential profile corruption, Offline Caching must be
disabled on shares where roaming user profiles are stored."

Yes, you can do this.
We have 2 terminal servers that we use roaming profiles and folder redirect.
The folders we save to are then replicated to another server with DFS.
(for redundancy)
The only time we ran into profile problems (updating) is when someone tried
to redirect application data and profiles together.

Default Roaming Profiles with Folder Redirection

Hi. I'm still having a nightmare getting Roaming Profiles to work I've
found what was
causing the Event ID 1525 Offiline Caching on the Roaming Profile error.
The \\Server\Profile folder share which contains each users profile had the
'Allow users to include in Offline Folders' enabled. Although no user had
actually enabled offline caching on the folder that was causing the error to
appear. Changing the Share to 'Files or Folders from this share will not be
avialable offline' instantly removed the error. I now thought wonderful,
maybe my roaming profiles will work, but they don't

I've taken one workstation and completely reisntalled it. I've installed
general Office applications and got it up to a point where its reasonably
complete. I then followed the following procedure to move the user profile
onto the server :
- I logged on as local administrator and using the System - Advanced -
User Profiles copied the user 'testUser' profile stored locally to
\\Server\Profiles\testUser using the Domain Administrator user account
to access the network share, and added the 'testUser' to the Owner
of the group. I checked the share and the profile copied over as
expected.
- I deleted the local copy of 'testUsers' profile and logged off the
local Administrator.
- Finally on the SBS2k3 server I added the \\Server\Profile\testUser
into the 'testUser' profile settings in Active Directory.
- I logged onto the Workstation with 'testUser' and the profile was
downloaded from the server.
- The System- Advanced - User Profiles shows 'testUser' as Roaming.

To then test if the profile was updating correctly on logoff I inserted
some dummy profileTestX.txt files into the local user C:\Do***ent and
Settings\testUser\Application Data and ......\testUser\My Do***ents\ I
then logged off and back on, and the profileText.txt files were still stored
locally but had not been updated onto the roaming profile on the server.

Just to point out for the time being I disabled My Do***ents Folder
Redirectino for this user so I can concentrate on getting the Roaming
Profiles to work, then I'll enable that policy.

Can anyone suggest what is going wrong, I'm absolutely stuck ? There are no
errors on the SBS2k3 server or the workstation and everything else is
working ok. When I logoff a user that is using Roaming Profiles should I
see any screen showing 'udating profile' or anything like that ?
