Installed the SMS SUS feature pack and the security
update
installation tool on SMS 2.0 sp5. Worked fine except for
the /sync command not working. Tried to reinstall the
security update tool but it said that it could only be
reinstalled if it was un-installed first.
Clicked on OK to uninstall it but when it restarted the
re-
installation, it failed saying the "...either the site or
server name was incorrect or you don't have the proper
security authorization to install the tool to the
site...".
There was no way to change the site or server name since
these properties were greyed over with the proper names
in
them. And I know that I have the proper security rights
to
do installations or changes on the SMS site. So what
could
be wrong or preventing me from installing the SMS SUS
security update tool?

You might try deleting all the Collections and Packages associated with the
SUSFP as well as the 'SecurityPatch' directory created with it, rebooting
the server, and then trying a fresh installation. Other than that you can
start looking through the smsprov.log to find the exact point at which time
the installaton was failing.
