Default SOLVED: MBSA "download mssecure.cab" from INSIDE proxy server - HO

Hi all.

I have been implementing a MOM server INSIDE an ISA Server proxy, and found
that the MBSA MAnagement pack task to download the mssecure.cab file failed,
since it could not authenticate to the ISA Server. MS had these suggestions
on how to deal with this limitation:

1) Manually download the mssecure.ca file
2) Ensure the MBSA File Transfer (whether on the MOM Server or another
Server) server has a direct connection to the Internet.

However, I found this great FREE tool that allowed me to create a scheduled
task to connect to MS, and download the MSSecure_1033.cab file, and put it in
the MBSA Virtual directory instead of using the MBSA MP supplied script.

Here are the instructions on how YOU can do the same!

1) Go to this URL (http://www.iopus.com/freeware/downloader/) and download
the program (zipfile)

2) Create a directory called SupplementalTools beneath "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005\"

3) Unzip the file you got (from 1) , and put the file called Downloader.exe
into the SupplementalTools directory

4) Create a file called MBSA-DL.BAT there, and paste the lines below into
that file:

@echo off
rem -------------------------------------------------------------------------
rem automates download of MBSA control file from server INSIDE ISA Proxy!!
rem -------------------------------------------------------------------------
downloader.exe -download http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=18922
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005\Downloaded
Files\YOUR-MGMT-GROUP\MSSecure.cab"

There should be 5 lines in the MBSA-DL.BAT file. On the last line, change
YOUR-MGMT-GROUP to a valid name! If you did a non default installation, you
MAY need to change the output directory path

5) On the File Transfer Server, create a scheduled task to run the batch
file every X days at X time (you decide what works for you!)

6) Disable the MBSA Management Pack (File Transfer Server) rule to "download
mssecure.cab file from http://www.microsoft.com"

Once you have completed these steps, you should be good to go!

Any questions, please ask!

Garth
