Default virus gaeli***.a

I keep getting a virus on my computer. It is called gaeli***.a by AVG. It
seems to be coming through my Internet Explorer browser. I have been on
AVG's and Microsoft's support newsgroups looking for permanent answers, to no
avail. I use AVG's vcleaner each time and am able to get rid of it, but it
is very annoying. One day I woke my computer from hibernation, and enabled
direcway: one webpage loaded ( news.google.com ) and immediately I had this
virus. I immediately went into Safe Mode and ran vcleaner from a diskette.
The scan revealed a file in the temporary internet files folder WITH THE
VIRUS, and that day's date, called: Windows-KB890830-V1.11-ENU[1].exe This
file must have just loaded. Also another file it uses is called
c:\install.exe (in the root directory). I delete it, but it returns somehow.
Is it possible that you can help me with this?

Gaeli***.A, AKA W32.Li***:

Windows version?

Is the machine fully up-to-date at Windows Update? MS03-026 addresses the
vulnerability used by this worm.

Windows XP service pack 2 autoupdate always is on

Well, no matteer what MS03-026 says this virus keeps getting back on my
computer, even after I run vcleaner.exe from AVG and get it off. It
must be on my operating system-- so that is why I am in this forum.

I appreciate your response, however.

Where does AVG keep finding it (filename & location)?

Have you checked AVG Free Forum? See these related threads:

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
