Web browsing with Toshiba e740, bluetooth
"Helio Diamant - MS-MVP/Mobile Devices" <helio@nospam.pocketpcfreak.com>
So far I've had no luck even getting the e740 to establish a LAN connection
to the PC via bluetooth. Is this definitely possible with a bluetooth e740
(not the wi-fi version).
I've had a look at the suggested website (geekzone.co.nz), and unfortunately
the bluetooth guides are for an iPAQ PDA with a TDK dongle. The
configuration options seem to be totally different on the Toshiba e740 and
MSI dongle.
What I need is a step by step guide for first of all getting the PDA to gain
LAN access to the PC. Then to configure the internet browsing side of
things.
The PC is running Windows 2000 Professional, sp3, and has a 3com network
card connected to an ADSL modem/router. This is Local Area Connection 1. It
is configured to obtain an IP address automatically (10.0.0.3 assigned by
the router) and connects to the internet through this. Windows is set up to
use a workgroup, rather than a domain.
The bluetooth dongle on the PC shows up as Local area connection 2 in
Network and Dial up connections, but this is currently disabled.
How should I configure both of these connections in order to let the e740
access the PC?
Next, I need to know what I should configure in the e740 in order to gain
network access to the PC. At present the devices are paired and the e740 can
detect the PC. However, on the e740 if I try to refresh the service list of
the PC, it only lists a serial port connection.
Please help!! Before this drives me mad!
Regards,
Shaun.
