Default weird printer and windows media player behaviour!!! help!!!

I use Windows XP Professional and I use Printer Canon i560
A strange problem appeared recently.
My printer one day refused to do any kind of printing
activities from any window application including notepad.
Worst than that, it isn’t able to even print a test page.
I checked absolutely all settings and wires. I reinstalled
all printer drivers from zero. Nothing helped.
Now the most interesting part comes: I can easily do all
printer maintenance jobs, which means computer, can freely
communicate with printer.
So I am completely puzzled… Computer easily communicates
with printer to do all maintenance operations but it isn’t
able to even print a test page…?
How can that be possible?
Windows application’s behaviour when trying to print is
like there isn’t any printer installed or like there is
configuration problem in the printer.
Recently because of W32.Sasser.Worm I installed a fresh
patch from Microsoft, which is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-
011.mspx
I think the problem is about this recent Microsoft patch
installation, cause I noticed that some of my friends
started having same problem just after he installed the
same patch, and they actually use other printer brands.
Note: I installed printer on other machine that doesn’t
have patch installed and printer works fine on that
machine.
I want to mention that even if I try to print to a network
printer that is installed on a machine which doesn’t have
patch installed I still get same think. My computer simply
refuses to do any printing activity locally or through
network (as does computer of some of my friends that have
patch installed) and I am pretty sure that it is all about
that patch, after I installed it something went wrong in
my operating system, and if I am wrong give me please and
advice on that.
Also, since patch installation, on 2 machines already,
Windows Media Player can’t detect my CD-RW.
So after all I don’t want to affirm something sure, cause
I still have doubts about the reason of all this problems,
but 1 think is sure, problems appear on those machines on
which I install that security patch.
Tanks a lot!
