Default Wide area networks

I have created some instances of SQL Server databases.

I am connecting my client side programs (which are developed with Microsoft
Access 2003 windows forms) via ODBC to these SQL Server databases in a LAN.

The client side programs can be installed in one or more personal computers
in a LAN. I usually use one dedicated server to 'house' these SQL server
databases.

Assuming the the client computers are located at a different site from the
SQL servers, how do I connect them together in a WAN?

Can I still use ODBC to connect? or are there any other technologies I
should deploy? In my country, the computers can be connect via fibre optic
broadband of speeds between 512kbps to 2mbps. The broadband lines are always
'open'.

Please advise.
Thanks and regards
