Win98se exception 05 error

have a DELL OptiPlex GX1 550mhz system with a SupraMax
56I Voice PCI v.92 modem..when I try and connect to the
internet, it rings and about a minute later I get a
win98se EXCEPTION 05 error...When I test my modem thru
control panel its ok...can anybody HELP
