This is unnecessary. The best way to avoid time being wasted by spam is to
ignore it.

Note - every posting in a thread DOES NOT have
to have the same subject matter. The subject
can be changed to be used for warnings.

That way, you can warn about spam (or other
inappropriate material) without requiring somebody
to read the text of the message, which on occasion
could trigger downloading some malicious payload.

cheers, jw

I wasn't complaining that Pegasus changed the subject line or that he
snipped all of the original post. I was just suggesting that posting a reply
of "spam" will not deter the spammer. I am also not convinced that warning
people about spam here is particularly effective. I had no idea which post
was being referred to or from which user/spammer. Had I run across the spam
later, how would I know it was the one being commented on?

Again, warning about spam just adds to the bandwidth it uses up. Or so I
imagine. If anyone here was saved from being bothered by the spam Pegasus
was warning about, I would sure like to hear from that person. If nobody
responds, that might indicate something to think about the next time someone
sees spam here.
