Default Y2K Advance Server DNS AD problem

Ive now been working on this for 5 hours and over it. Im
trying to install Active Directory onto my PC which is
running Y2K Advanced Server. (sorry didntknow where else
to put my post)

Ive looked at ms technet and followed all instructions
but it still wont work, have search this forum for
possible answers and still nothing.

Ive installed Y2K Advance Server and is currently a
member server. Under Amin tools have configured DNS
forward and reverse lookup and enabled updates, all looks
well with my domain name. I then "dcpromo" it
and AD wizard comes up, select new domain, create new
tree, create new forrest, enter in dns name as per dns
setup, netbios name is all correct, winnt database
location and AD log location all to hard drive (default
to). Sysvol all ok to C drive, permission compatible left
at default, password and review summary are all ok.

Wizard starts up and shows coping some files in
the "Configuring Active Directory" pop up until it then
hangs with a message "Configuring the local server to
host the Directory Service". Its not doing anything. I
knew it can take some time but ive left it for an hour
and nothing

I have to get this sorted to complete this MCP module and
am getting pretty desperate for some help.

Hello Renee,

Please make sure that you have configured the server to point to itself for
DNS.

If that is already done and you are still having problems, then I suspect
you might
have a bad CD.

The dcpromo log file should have some information as to why it might have
failed.
