Hello,

I am evaluating MOM2005SP1 to see what would be involved in deploying it to
our setup. I had tried to do such an evaluation some time ago(6 or more
months ago) but became busy and was unable to finish then. I mention it
because it may be relevent to my questions.

I have successfully installed MOM2005SP1 on a test machine with no problems.
I have also deployed the agent to one machine, and am monitoring a
performance counter on another without the agent. At least I think I am.

There are some oddities I am seeing which I think are affecting what I can
do in MOM. First, none of the machines, with or without agens are showing up
in the groups. I cannot get them to appear in the groups, even when
********ly listing them as included computers.

This also means I seem to only be able to interact with the monitored
machines from the Ops console in a very limited fashion(I seem to be able to
see alerts of the individual machines from the Computers tree item, but the
Ops console does not seem to see have listings for any of the Groups listed
in the Admin Console.

Lastly, I created a simple threshold rule on a performance counter to send
an email response when free idsk space % falls below a certain level on a
particular drive. MOM had no problem locating the counters on the remote,
non-managed machine, and I believe I have the rule configured correctly.
However, is there any way to perform a test-firing of the rule so I can
verify it is correct and the response is able to fire off the email?
