Default New Forest

We have a MOM environment in a forest/domain that consists of a management
server, database server, and about 20 managed servers with the MOM agent
installed.

We have built a new AD environment that is currently populated by a remote
office. There is a trust between the new AD domain and the domain in which
MOM currently exists.

We want to start monitoring systems in the new forest/domain, but will soon
migrate the domain in which MOM resides into the new forest/domain. Is it
worth spending the time to deploy the MOM agent across the trusted domains or
would it be better to simply migrate the MOM environment to the new
forest/domain and re-deploy the agent to systems in the old domain until they
too are migrated over? Eventually, the domain in which MOM currently resides
will be decommissioned.

Also, where can I find do***entation that outlines the appropriate method to
migrate MOM to a new domain?

Thanks

Installing and uninstalling agents is not a big deal. Is these this AD
domains in the same namespace?
Else you will get a problem with secure communication, but you could turn
that off...
Take a look at this webpage to get more information
Deploying MOM 2005 in Multiple Domains
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/mom/mom2005/Library/ad660f81-c5fc-4937-94b0-bd4d6657b60b.mspx?mfr=true

But I dont think its a big deal install and uninstall agents so I would
install agents now and then uninstall them if needed.

Thanks, Anders. The two AD environments are completely different namespaces.
I agree that modifying the agents is the easy part.

I read today in the MOM Operations Guide that moving the MOM management and
database servers between domains is not supported. I have yet to find any
do***entation that speaks directly about the migration of a MOM environment.
I guess it needs to be treated as a new deployment?

Thanks

If its a total new forest I think you could handle it as a new deployment.
I think there will be a lot of problems if you try to move working MOM
databases
to a new domain.
