I have two WinXP Pro clients which are both members of a Win2k3 domain.
I have a strange issue which at first appears to be permission based but I don't think this is the problem. The problem is occuring with ADMIN share i.e. \\machine\c$ but also occurs if you set up a defined share such as \\machine\Shared_Folder It does not seem to matter how I configure the security permissions for the shares or underlying folders, when I access shares across the network from another XP machine there are files and folders which are randomly missing. i.e. C:\folder1\folder2 and it's contents are visible on the host but when viewed from the client you may see \\machine\c$\folder1\folder2 but not it's contents, or maybe just some of it's contents. Clearly this appears to be a permissions issue, however, if you know the name of a file or folder that you cannot see on the client, you can still open it if you type its name name into the address bar of Windows Explorer (hence it cannot be a permission issue?). Any ideas? -- Kind regards Phil Hollingworth phil@wrltd.co.uk |
