Default WMA 9.1 Codec missing

I have WM5 on a Dell Axim X50v. I am receiving an error that the codec is not
installed. All files are .wma. Is it possible to reinstall the codec?

do i have to hard reset to restore WMP10?

Thanks...

There's a list of supported codecs, though it's hard to tell from a
file which codec it uses in detail :

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/windowsmobile/faq.aspx#5_2

In general, if WMP desktop can play the file then it can be
synchronised with conversion (transcoded) to the PPC in a format that
it can support.

So - if it doesn't work without error on .wma files, is this one .wma
file or all of them you've tried ? Pretty much anything in your media
library that's ripped from CD can be played on the PPC. Make sure not
to check the "copy protect" in your CD rip settings if that's the
source. Let's leave any talk of hard resets to another day ;-)

It appears to be all of my music files. I have been able to play music in the
past. "Copy protection" is not checked.

I've deleted the files from my CF card and re-synced, but with the same
result. However, i used the same file set. I could try syncing with a
different set of files, but i am currently away from a pc i can sync with.

I had found the link to the WM MP FAQ, but it was lacking as far as
troubleshooting was concerned. I synched to compact flash while it was in my
device, but i am not playing protected media.

Thanks,

Shane

Some additional information:

I tried playing my .wma files in TCPMP. The files played, but i wasn't
getting any audio. My volume was locked off. No matter how many times i
changed it, it always went back to off. I searched Aximsite about the volume
issue, but i finally admitted defeat and hard reset.

I am able to play my music files again.
