Default WiFi Programmatically switch On-Off

Hi all gurus,
I've an app that from time to time (say every 10 minutes) connects to WiFi,
WEP-128 encrypted network. Since I need a long on-duty time with no battery
swap, I've set Frequency at 200MHz on my Toshiba E750, WiFi speed 1-2 MB,
auto-dim on PPC and so on. Despite all these settings, battery life is still
too short (I guess 'cause of WiFi card draining effect). So I'd like to
Programmatically switch Off/On my network card (I user :net VisualStudio
2003, but I eventually could use Win32 APIs). Is there out there some1 who
can help me, pls? LOT in advance. Any clue appreciated.
