Hi,
I just upgraded my operating system from windows 2000 sp4 to windows XP sp2 so that I can install WMP10 (ver 10.00.00.3646). I have a desktop with windows xp sp2/wm10 and I've been able to synchronize music/video to my Creative Zen media player fine, but on this recently upgraded laptop, I am getting 'server threw an exception' error. I read the knowledge base article about the problem possibly being a decoder problem, but I can view the *.mpg (mpeg2) files fine on the WMP and I've checked the decoder with the decoder checker and I have atleast one of the recommended decoder (intervideo video decoder (inivideo.ax) ver 6.0.6.42). Also, the same *.mpg file synchs on my desktop. I tried using the Windows Media Encoder 9.00.00.298 to convert the file and I also get an error (see below). AppName: wmenc.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2980 ModName: quartz.dll ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Offset: 0002e61b I also have a Pocket DVD Wizard 2.7.1 which allows me to convert *.avi/*.mpg to *.wmv and this software also gives me problems on my laptop (but works fine on my desktop). It also errors out with the quartz.dll problem. I have attached the error file that was generated with the pocket dvd wizard (1134_appcompat.txt). I am thinking my problem lies with the windows media encoder 9.0, so I've tried uninstalling WMP10, WME9, and pocket dvd wizard and installing again, but I still have the problem. Do you have any suggestions on what I can try to remedy my problems? I hope I do not have to reinstall windows XP (clean install). Thank you for your support! Kyu Lee qlee72@hotmail.com |
