I've just taken delivery of a new 2003 server for using as a MCMS development
server. I've installed everything pretty much to the board as per the installation document yet i've got a bit stuck.. The public section is set on port 8008 and the SCA is set on port 8080. The SCA seems to work OK. When trying to open the Site Manager from the start menu, i enter the name of the server and the default port of 8080. It then asks me for a user name so i enter a local Admin username and password and then i get the error message: "Could not connect to the Microsoft Content Management Server RSDEV:8080. Either the web service is not running, or there are network problems that are keeping you from connecting to the server, or the server is not accessible through MCMS Site Manager." I've removed the FrontPage 2002 extensions so as to get rid of any potential issues caused by Sharepoint Services. But still the issue remains. Any pointers would be greatfully received, many thanks, -- ============= VB .NET Developer http://www.rocketscience.uk.com |

Hi,
you need to enter the configuration to a read-write MCMS website - not to the SCA website. With other word 8008 would be the right port.
