Outlook Express

I have an older computer using Windows ME which I only use to send and
receive email. I have suddenly discovered that I have over 3000 messages in
the Sent box which I want to delete all of. Outlook Express won't allow me
to delete them. I want to clean them out and need to know how solve this
problem. Everything else in OE works just fine. Help please.
