Backup of SUS and configuration for re-install
Is there a backup facility to backup SUS and the Configuration file so

Hi,
You may wish to read Backup and Restore chapter of SUS Deployment Guide (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/sus/susdeployment.mspx) for detailed procedures. But basically to avoid initiall syncronization upon (re)installation of SUS server all you need to have "cabs" folder found in <SUS data folder>\content\. You can copy a backup over new installation. Upon first syncronization only catalog files and new updates released after you backup cabs foder will be downloaded. I did it many times when was installing SUS in locations that do not have LAN connection to other working SUS servers. hth, Al |
