Default Clean-up of WSUS2 and SUS files after WSUS3 install

I am running a Windows SBS 2003 R2 SP1 server and followed the SBS BPA just
released which recommended I update to WSUS3.0. Install went fine and is
working well, but I would like to get rid of previous versions.

I had moved the previous WSUS SQL to drive D: and the WSUS3 installer found
it OK and used the MSSQL$WSUS as the base for its embedded DB.

In Add/Remove CP I have only Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0.
In C:\Inetpub I have a folder UpdateServices
In C:\Program Files\ Microsoft Windows SBS I have a folder UpdateServices
In D:\WSUS there are 4 folders:
MSSQL$WSUS
UpdateServicesPackages
WsusContent
WsusDatabase (containing SUSDB.MDF (2,105,344 KB)

Which can be safely removed?

Also, I ran the DB cleaner from the WSUS Console and deleted all unused,
expired, (et al) entries (took about 2 hours) but the new DB is still
showing 2GB. Is there a utility I need to run to compress it?

And where do I find the WSUSUTIL and Client Diagnostic Tools?
Thanks

Rick

Default Clean-up of WSUS2 and SUS files after WSUS3 install

Hi Rick,

I reinstall my WSUS server every year to clean up my updates. Once they have
been applied to the machines it is silly to have them on the server.

With WSUS 3.0 I blew away everything related to WSUS before I installed 3.0.

I installed WSUS 3.0 and then had it sync with everything set to "not
approved" (default). I then went to the list and manually approved the
updates for download that I needed (which was about 10). I have 500
workstations that have been updated every night so it isn't an issue.

I then set Automatic Approval options to approve new critical updates for
install.

Cheers,
Lara
