Default Horizontal Partitioning

Hi!

I have a Publication with a table holding data for four
different regions viz North, south, East, West. I have
different subscribers requiring data pertaining to their
region. I know that I do not need to create multiple
publications for this task in SQL2000. I'm using
Transactional Replication. How can I partition this table
so that subscribers can get the required data?? Please
help guys!

In case I need to build DTS packages to send data to the
Subscribers, please give me an example or steps that I
need to follow.

Cheers
Anupam

Anupam,
for merge replication the data may be partitioned using
dynamic filters with udfs or properties of the merge
agent, but for transactional this is possible using
transforamble subscriptions, as you mention. When you
create a subscriber, you select the DTS package that has
been created using the wizard. The dts package used may be
particular to each subscriber, so partitioning occurs at
this stage. I don't have replication installed on this box
so I can't set it up and mention the dts tasks involved,
but I have put a relevant answer on
http://www.replicationanswers.com to this scenario.
Regards,
Paul
