Default Setting-up SQL Server

Am running XP Pro and have 2-station wireless network.
Also getting into Visual Studio .NET, ASP .NET, creating
my web site, etc.. Am getting 2 errors which I believe
are caused by the same underlying problem: improper
setup in Control Panel.
(1) the first error occurs when I try to create a new Web
page or project in Visual Studio. I get a Web Access
Error telling me that it's set for fileshare but there's
a discrepancy between "localhost" and machine or web name
OR I don't have access rights.
(2) the other error says that (the particular app)
requires IIS 4.0 or higher. I believe I have IIS 6.0
installed but a couple of 3rd party apps apparently can't
find it.

Can anyone help? Are these indeed related problems? Is
this a walk-through over the phone kind of situation?
Anyone willing to help please call 860-675-1691 (CT).

Also, I'm new to SQL Server and have inadvertently set-up
two iterations (one called VPRMATRIX, which is the name
of my machine, the other called VPRMATRIXVBDOTNET which I
really don't know how I created it. Both are available
in the treeview panel in Visual Studio .NET. I can't
figure out how to delete the unwanted one.
