DAVE and ADmitMac from thursby.com are nice pieces of software, but
they only support Intel based Macs with their beta software. Usually,
I jump on betas, but the user of this particular PowerBook needs
something more stable. Does anyone have an alternative way of
connecting to Windows DFS share from Max OS X (10.4.6)?

PowerBooks are PowerPC based, which means you can use the currently
shipping (non-beta) Dave and ADmitMac products. If your user has a
MacBook Pro then I know of no other options for connecting to DFS shares.
Hope this helps! bill

in article firstname.lastname@example.org,
The current Thursby BETA program for DAVE 6.2 and ADmitMac 3.2 does support
both intel and PPC. The installers and software are all Universal Binary.

I have DFS shares on a W2003K server and Panther and Tiger Clients… I
connect by Command+k to:
seems perfectly stable… note: macs do not understand the ‘proper way’
of addressing a DFS share – ie //domainname/DFSsharename. Consequently,
not as fully implemented as you would wish but perfectly functional.
