I have an old CTX computer, an running Windows 95 on it.
I am now using a computer modem in lieu of dial-up (ISP)
and run the cable through a router.
My question – The Win95 sytem does not recognize the
network adapter card, and hence the router. How can I
obtain/install the correct driver?

Give the brand/model of the NIC (Network Interface Card), and likely
someone will point to a suitable driver within a few minutes (or not).
Go to www.Google.com and put in the NIC’s name + model + “driver”,
(no quotes) and investigate the various links.
Try one of the many driver databases on the web (like www.driverguide.com …
User = “drivers”, Password = “all”, and see if they have anything.

Thanks for responding. I’ll pull the NIC board out and
get more info.

I pulled the NIC board, and it is a SMC1255TX. I
downloaded, and tried to install, the driver – and 3/4 of
the way thru the install process, a message
reading “install the ‘Netware DOS Driver Disk’ in”. I do
not have this disk -any thoughts? Thanks.

I downloaded two driver archives, one from Driverguide, the other direct
from SMC, as well as the User’s Manual. Installing the drivers should only
take a few clicks… you must be trying to install the entire package along
with all the utilities in it, which seems to include Netware for DOS support.
The “easy” steps are in the Win95.txt or Win95sr2.txt files inside the archives.
