In Windows 98 I can drag and drop files from my Hard Drive to my CD Writer
to a read/write CD with CD direct. How can I do this in XP? Also if I write
files to my read/writable CD there seems to be no way to delete only one
file as it only allows me to erase all the files on the CD.
Any help will be much appreciated

Continuing to use Direct CD is the easy way. I got a free upgrade from
Roxio to make it WinXP compatible.
If doing it from the WinXP built in writing, I’ve read that you drag the
files to the drive, and when through dragging files, you right click on the
drive and select the option to do the writing. I have no idea how you do
the CD formatting using just WinXP.

As far as I know you cant perform Drag & Drop on Win XP media player – only
Copy (If thats what you mean). You will need a third party software like
Roxio’s Direct CD or Neros In CD. If you have the old version of Roxio you
will need to update it to use with XP. If you have Nero you will need to
download *In CD* from their site and you can only do that if you have a
fully licensed registered copy.

Actually, the latest REGISTERED version of Nero is easily available on the
internet (D/L the trial version and then scan Google.com for “Nero +
Unless, of course you wish to feel noble and pay for it. (Whatever helps

Roxio CD Drag to Disk, allows for formatting of CD-RW’s, and you can then
drag drop to desktop icon no probs:
