Hi- I’m a bit lost on this problem, wondered if anyone
I am running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, as an
internet server for two workstations with Windows Me and
Windows XP. However, the internet is only working on the
server and the workstation running Me. I have checked the
settings (internet and network), the cable (works in both
workstations), and the Hub (has worked until now). The
Internet did not stop working on the XP system until I
installed Server 2003.
Any suggesgions would be greatly appreciated

Is the XP client receving its TCP/Ip settings from the ICS host? Verify with
Can the XP client ping the IP of the 2003 server? Can it ping the ME box?
What error does the XP client get when you try to access the Internet?’

The TCP/IP looks ok…and the everyone pings at >1ms.
we have tried switching the cables (one of them is no Cat.

May be some “no” future guy?
Probably had fun at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I’m trying to set up a wireless network. My instructions
say to go to the control panel ->Add Remove Programs ->
Windows setup tab ->Internet Tools option ->Details
Button ->Internet Connection Sharing Check box. The last
item Internet Connection Sharing Check box does not exist
as a selection. Do I need to reinstall Windows 98?,
Download something? How do I get this item?

ICS only exists in Windows 98 Second Edition.

Is there a way to get internet connection sharing with
Windows 98. Or do I need to upgrade to Win 98 SE. I have
an older computer that i’d like to connect to the net
without getting into any costly OS upgrades.

From what others have said, you’ll probably need SE.
Personally, I don’t bother (I’ve almost strangled my 98se systems trying to
get them to see each other, let alone share an internet connection……..
gave up in the end. Before I threw them out the window).
