I’m running a pretty slow set up but outlook express 5 is slow to load and
when you go to newsreader it is also slow as is listing the newsgroups.
I was thingking of trying to use internet mail and news with ’98 but it
can’t find an inf file it’s looking for and I’m not sure I want to revert
Now I don’t claim to know anything about pc’s but I can’t see why getting a
list of groups up should take so long. Is it compressing it every time or
something and is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Downloading a newsgroup list the first time from a new ISP can be a lengthy process but you only need to do it once!
