Default Is file named SAVE2DSK.BIN Necessary to Keep in Windows Folder

Hi,
I am using Windows 2000 on my PC which I use to run Windows 98 on. I
noticed that there is a file named SAVE2DSK.BIN in my Windows folder that is
taking up approx 147meg of space. Since I am running tight on available disk
space, I was wondering whether or not this system file can be removed (since
I found references that it only pertains to Windows 98). Your help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That's a hibernation file. If you're not using hibernation, it's not needed
anymore. Dell laptops used to put those in.

Hi Ray
Yes this is a Dell. If I remove, I would not be messing anything up. How
do I know if my laptop has Hibernation Mode in an active state?

Thanks

Don't know what you mean by 'active state' - hibernate is something you do
manually. Check your power options in control panel - find the hibernate
tab, untick it. I don't remember whether this deletes the file itself
automatically or not - do a reboot and see if it's still there, and if it is, delete it.
