At the following URL I found the following text.
--------- http://home.pacific.net.sg/~kennethkwok/lynx/ --------- Using Lynx in Windows Lynx is a console program. That means it is a text-mode program that runs in a DOS box. However, it accesses the Windows Socket and other kernel functions directly and not through a "virtual PC" like DOS programs. It is a native 32-bit Windows program that must run under Windows. I have successfully run Lynx on a variety of Windows systems. So far I had not encountered any problems with Win9x or WinME systems. Lynx cannot run on some NT systems that I tried it on; I am not technical enough to figure out why. There has been no problems with 2000/XP systems except that I could never get the DOS window to fully maximise even in 640 x 480 and sometimes the Lynx screen does not refresh properly. --------- I wonder if anybody can comment on whether the terminology is accurate, especially "console program," "DOS box," "virtual PC," and "DOS programs." (I've got lynx running full-screen, without any borders, which I accomplished by creating a batch file in my lynx directory, and a link to it on my Start > Programs list, and setting the properties on the latter, choosing "Full Screen" on the Options tab and a screen buffer size of width 80 and height 25 on the Layout tab. I don't know whether I did it right, but it seems to work. I have some questions, but need to understand the vocabulary first.) -- Marshall Price of Miami Known to Yahoo as d021317c |
