Default CDRW - worked in w98, not in w2k

I used to run W98. I switched to W2k Pro - clean install,
new HDD. Now my CDRW doesn't work correctly.

When I try to format a disk I get the following error:
"Device is reserved by other process. (0x800001a)"

Quicken is also unable to write to the drive. It returns
an "Unable to access the disk in drive D:." error. I'm
guessing this is because of the forementioned "other"
process.

I have spoken to the CDRW drive's support people (LG) and
they could not help. I have searched the MS site as well
as the Quicken site without success. I have unistalled and
reinstalled both hardware and software - also without
success.

Anyone out there see this before?
I welcome any useful suggestion on how to correct this.

Thanks,
Jesse

You don't mention the device driver. W2k drivers are unique; you must
get (from manufacturer's website) a W2k driver for the CDRW, if you
haven't done so. The old W98 driver won't work.

Did you reinstall your (hopefully compatible with W2K)
burning software?

W2K has no idea how to burn CD's on its own...
