I recently installed a new hard drive in my son's
computer. I kept the old, smaller drive with Windows 2000
OS so I could install the new one, I thought, w/out
problems. I installed and followed the directions for
partitioning the new drive, since it's only to be used
for storage. At the end, I was told that the installation
and partitioning had been successful, and that Windows
would assign a letter drive to each of the partitions I
had created. But when I rebooted, Windows only has
the "C" drive (the smaller original hard drive) that my
OS is on - it apparently still doesn't recognize the new
hard drive at all! I've gone thru this about 10 times,
and still nothing! HELP!

Is the new drive IDE or SCSI? If it is IDE, does it have the correct
setting (MASTER/SLAVE)? When you boot into Windows 2000, what do you see in
Disk Manager? Do you see the drive showing up? How are you formatting the
drive? Are you doing this from within disk manager?

If you give us a few more details, we should be able to help you on this
one.
