I have a Belkin F5U503 1394 host controller PCI board
installed on a Transmeta Crusoe processor based computer
running XP. At one time it seemed to work quite well. I
removed it and installed a video capture board with a 1394
port but that unit would not function as its software
(Matrox) needed more than the 256 MB of memory which is
the maximum this computer will accommodate. I removed
that board and its software drivers as well as run their
cleanup utility. So, I plug the Belkin 1394 board back in
and it does not function. I go into device manager and I
see under device status "This Device cannot Start (Code
10)". I try to update the device driver but when it
searches XP it says it cannot find a more current driver.
I tried to completely reload the operating system but I
still get the same Code 10 error in Device Manager. I
take the board over to another computer running Win 2000
and it seems to see the board just fine. I format the
hard disk on the Transmeta based computer and load Win
2000 on it. I go into Device Manager and the 1394
controller again shows "This device cannot start. (Code
10). Very frustrating! I've searched the knowledge base
high and low for an answer to no avail. The Belkin 1394
board is the only expansion board plugged into this
system. Belkin says the interrupts are all used up on the
system. But this board did work at one time and with PCI
you aren't suppose to have to monkey with interrupts,
right?
Please help.
