Service pack 1 issues
Hey guys,
I have got the below in my svcpack.log. Why did mofcomp return 1?
Because I killed it. Our service pack ran for over an hour without
anything happening, at the "Running postinstall processes" screen. So
I killed it, rolled back the service pack, then tried again. At round
two, I wasn't prepared to rollback, so I checked the log, and saw that
"starting process" was the last line, referring to mofcomp.exe.
I opened task manager, killed it mofcomp.exe (a few times) and then
the service pack continued.
The beauty is that postreboot, I opened up my command prompt and
copy+pasted these lines, and they immediately executed with a success.
SOoooo, my server is OK now, but, why in the world did it hang here?
mofcomp seemed to just pause indefinitely during the service pack. I
have noted also that mofcomp ran many more times without incident.

PS Does MS have a standard page/do***ent on anything involving
standard issues with SP1? I spent a lot of time finding that "ASP.NET
Prohibited" tag in the IIS manager, and it would have been handy to
have been forwarned about it, with something other than "Service Pack
1 increases you security" that I find everywhere.
