Default Windows 98 not booting up

My system does not boot up past the Windows screen. A
error message says: Memory Manager not detected. Creative
SB16 Emulation Driver requires EM386 or similiar. Creative
SB16 Emulation Driver not loading. I have re-installed
Windows 98, but still get the same message. Any
suggestions? SJ

It sounds like something going on inside Autoexec.bat. Are you at DOS?
Then...

REN C:\Config.sys Config.bad
REN C:\Autoexec.bat Autoexec.bad

Boot to Normal Mode, & post those .badies.

First copy/paste/send the contents of your autoexec.bat and config.sys in a response
to this thread.

Reboot the machine with a Win98 bootdisk. If you do not have one then click Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Startup Disk Tab > Create Disk. You
will need 1 floppy for it. Keep the boot disk in the drive and reboot
When prompted to start with or with CD support Select "without CD support".

*Note: below all spaces are represented by an Asterisk. Press the space bar for each
space in the command, Do Not type an Asterisk.
At the Prompt type:

cd*c:\ and press Enter.
attrib*-s*-r*-h*c:\autoexec.bat and press Enter.
attrib*-s*-r*-h*c:\config.sys and press Enter.
ren*c:\autoexec.bat*autoexec.old and press Enter.
ren*c:\config.sys*config.old and press Enter.

Remove the boot disk and press ctrl+alt+del to reboot.
