Default New Network card causes slow boot-up

Hello,

I recently bought a new networking card (it is a "Network
Everywhere nc1000") for my HP Pavillion 6573Z computer
(500Mhz, 192 RAM, etc.) I installed it easily, but then I
ran into some annoyances. When I start up my computer, the
loading process hangs for about 2-3 minutes at
the "Windows 98" logo screen. I tried uninstalling the
drivers, and the problem disappeared. Then I reinstalled
the drivers, and like magic, the problem came back.

I have read around a little bit and some sources say that
emm386.exe may be the problem, but I don't it is. If
anyone has had any experience with this type of problem,
please let me know.

Thank You Very Much.

The first thing to do is to look at the network protocols and clients that
are loading when the system starts up. Any unneeded protocols or bindings
will slow down the startup process as the computer looks for networks that
don't exist.

Unless you are actually using the NetBEUI or IPX/SPX network protocols,
remove them from the Network properties icon in the Control Panel, then
restart and see if the startup seems any faster.
