slow network WIN98 <-> XP
I have a WIN98 desktop PC connected with a crosscable
to a XP notebook. Both have an ethernet card configured
on auto. They appear to establish a link on 100Mb/s FD.
When I send data from the XP machine to the WIN98 machine
I notice a performance of 0.15% average. Why is it so
slow? (The other way around is slow too).
I experimented with other fixed link speeds, but this
doesn't help.
I had 2 XP notebooks connected to eachother with the same
cable. This worked fine (60% average of 100Mb/s)
So my conclusion is that somehow the WIN98 machine slows
down the transfer.
I put the ethernet card of the WIN98 machine in another
PCI slot. This didn't improve anything.
What else can I do?
