Default Win98 fails during startup

I tried what you said, although, in the CMOS, there is no
way to completely disable the HDD. The only thing that I
am able to do is disable 32-Bit transfers. After doing
that, I reboot, but the same message comes up on the
screen. What would happen if I took the HDD out of the
laptop, installed it in a desktop that I have and pasted
the setup files of the Win98 disk into the drive and then
re-installed it in the laptop?
Best,
Andy

Roberto,
Please disregard my other reply, as I WAS actually able to
disable the HDD. The problem now is that I get the
message "Operating system not found". In my other reply, I
did ask about removing the HDD from the laptop, installing
it in my desktop and copying setup files to it - what do
you think of that?
Regards,
Andy

If you can easily pull the hard drive, that will probably be the easy
way to get around this problem. Copy the files to the C: partition,
replace the drive, set the first boot device to the floppy drive, boot
with a Window start up disk, at the A: prompt, type: C: and hit
enter. At the C: prompt, type: CD <name of the folder containing the
W98 files> and hit enter. At that prompt, type: Setup.exe
and hit enter.

Sorry for the late response--been out of town.
