Default Opening folders from desktop

Every time I try to open a folder from my desktop, I get the search box
instead of the folders box! How do I revert back to seeing the files? Using
XP Pro.

Do you have any other odd behavior? Like IE acting strange?
Any recent updates or sofware changes?

Just from this info, it could be some malware. I would suggest a virus scan
as well as something to check for spyware type applications (like ad-aware
or hijackthis.)

If you boot to safe mode, do they work? (How to boot to safe mode:

Start - Run - regedit.exe

Open to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
Highlight and in the right pane double click (Default) and enter the
exact four characters
none

Repeat the check at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
