Default VSS Error on Backup

Hi,
on our 2003 Server Std R2 SP2 is an SQL Server 2005 installed.
Every evening, the SQL Server will be stopped and backup starts.
The Backup (with EMC Retrospect) runs without errors, but the Win eventlog
logs the error:
8194 Source VSS

Volumeschadowcopy-Error: "IVssWriterCallback" unexpected Error. hr =
0x80070005.

(It's a german system, the original message is:
Volumeschattenkopie-Dienstfehler: Beim Abfragen nach der Schnittstelle
"IVssWriterCallback" ist ein unerwarteter Fehler aufgetreten. hr =
0x80070005.)

Before backup the following batch script will be executed:
net stop SPAdmin
net stop SPSearch
net stop SPTimerV3
net stop SPTrace
net stop SPWriter
net stop msftwsql
net stop sqlserveragent
net stop Reportserver
net stop msdtsserver
net stop mssqlserverolapservice
net stop mssqlserver

Does anyone know how to solve this error?

Regards
Florian

C:\>err 0x80070005
# for hex 0x80070005 / decimal -2147024891
E_ACCESSDENIED winerror.h
# General access denied error
# as an HRESULT: Severity: FAILURE (1), FACILITY_WIN32 (0x7), Code 0x5
# for hex 0x5 / decimal 5
ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED winerror.h
# Access is denied.

I guess contact your backup software vendor support first, and work with
them.

rgds,
Edwin.

That's an access denied. What did EMC have to say about it?

Generally, when this happens during a snapshot, it's because a hardware
problem or a filter driver is interfereing with the shadowcopy process.
This causes the hidden and Nodefaultdriveletter volume attributes to remain
set even though they shouldn't be on the volume which you are trying to
snap.

You can verify this yourself using diskpart in Windows 2003 SP1 or later (if
you're not at SP1 yet use the version in KB 840781). Use the ATTRIBUTES
command to set/clear volume attributes.

For a resolution to the problem, contact your storage vendor.
