Default Running user logon scripts via GPO

I am running user logon scripts via group policy in a Windows 2003 AD
environment. Once the user logs in and opens Windows Explorer, it takes a
long time before the network drives show up. Any help would be appreciated

"Run scripts synchronously"

The explorer starts prior the script ends ...
after activating this setting, the scripts run first and
after that the explorer.exe starts.
