I'll answer as no one else has, you could use script or my MAKEMSI tool
to do some automated post processing of the MSI assuming VS can't do it
(I don't use it).

I don't think its a good idea to update the system path unless its
absolutely required. There is a path length lmit but on NT pretty big,
but user may need to logoff/on or restart to pick up path change.
